It was a week for local roster re-signings with the Adelaide 36ers coming close to completing their roster while the Cairns Taipans and Illawarra Hawks both retain some of their depth.

The South East Melbourne Phoenix also officially confirmed the loss of Owen Foxwell who departs to begins his collegiate career with Wisconsin. Foxwell was a true success story in his five seasons for the Phoenix as someone who worked his way up from a development player to being a starting player all for the same team. Now, Wisconsin gets an incredible addition with someone who will surpass the majority of his competitors by experience alone.

Kyrin Galloway re-signs with Cairns Taipans

Position: Forward
2025–26 statistics: 7.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, .7 assists, .9 blocks, .5 steals, 44.4% field goal, 76.3% free throw

The Cairns Taipans maintain their local forward depth with the re-signing of Kyrin Galloway on a one-year deal. Galloway has produced almost identical statistical outputs during his two seasons with the Taipans but had a career-best rebounding year. Galloway is one of those consistent players who also manages to have a massive scoring burst every so often and is a valuable addition. Despite the struggles of the last two seasons, the Taipans seem to believe that things can better if consistency is maintained.

Matt Kenyon re-signs with Adelaide 36ers

Position: Guard
2025–26 statistics: 2.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, .5 assists, .0 blocks, .4 steals, 39.7% field goal, 63.2% free throw
Announcement link

The 36ers re-signing Matt Kenyon means that the team is genuinely adamant a championship is imminent with only a new coach, the addition of Bul Kuol, and the potential tweaking of their third import. Kenyon the 6’5″ shooting guard was made to cover spots from 2 to 4 during last season as the sometimes sole defensive presence. There was not much else Kenyon could do with below-average shooting percentages including a sub-30% from three-point range. He will have much to cover defensively until Kuol returns from injury.

Johny Narkle re-signs with Illawarra Hawks

Position: Guard
2025–26 statistics: 2.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, .4 assists, .2 blocks, .3 steals, 37.5% field goal, 73.3% free throw
Announcement link

The Illawarra Hawks retain Johny Narkle for two more seasons after his limited minutes in his rookie NBL season. Initially slated to be a development player, he was elevated to the main roster at the end of October after only a handful of games and stayed there for the rest of the season. The NBL1 West star who has won two championships as Grand Final MVP still has much to convert to the higher league. His all-around game means that he has the potential to do so and the Hawks could reap the rewards much like they did with William Hickey who followed a similar trajectory.
