NBL news was dedicated this week was dedicated almost solely to league-based announcements such as the schedule release and announcing that the NBL Blitz will be hosted in Bendigo. That did not stop the Adelaide 36ers from re-signing a rarely-seen prospect as the only signing announcement of the week.

The Tasmania JackJumpers also announced the mutual release of Sean Macdonald who signed a contract extension two months ago. Macdonald was once poised to be the JackJumpers’ starting point guard but two separate major injuries have meant that he has not played since January 2025. The last time he was seen during the 2024–25 season, Macdonald averaged 11.2 points and 3.8 assists per game. The move to release him was definitely unexpected seeing how the JackJumpers have housed an injured Macdonald for 1.5 seasons and deserved to reap the benefits of his eventual return but obviously the team decided it was no longer worth the wait.

Keanu Rasmussen re-signs with Adelaide 36ers

The Adelaide 36ers make an easy re-signing in guard Keanu Rasmussen who is coming off a season where he saw his role completely reduced yet still possessed no qualms. Rasmussen demonstrated his abilities as a development player during the 2024–25 season with 2.7 points per game in limited minutes and was rewarded with a full roster spot by the 36ers for the next season. The 36ers ended up adding significant guard depth on top of him and Rasmussen saw his playing time dissipate almost completely; he averaged 4.6 minutes in 12 games. A sensible signing for the 36ers with someone who can play yet has no issue if not.
